FREE Carnival Summer Dance Camp 2021

This summer we are especially excited to welcome boys and girls aged 9 years - 17 years to our studios at the Mandela Centre, Chapeltown, Leeds for a fantastic Carnival dance camp. The sessions, which run every day at 10.30am - 12.30pm from Monday 9th August to Friday 13th August, are FREE, thanks to funding from the Inner North East Community Committee, Leeds City Council.

The carnival dance camp marks and celebrates our return to in-person sessions at RJC Dance studio. The dance camp will awaken dormant bodies with carnival dance, movement/choreography, to the uplifting sounds of Soca music in readiness of the Leeds West Indian Carnival virtual event. During the carnival dance camp week, tutors Nillanthie Morton and Jemma Mae Broomfield will teach our carnivalist participants, together with a theatre skills session culminating at the end of the week with a performance which will be shared online. These sessions are fun, energetic and a great way for the children and young people to make friends and keep fit this summer.

Places are strictly limited to ensure we keep all our participants and staff safe. The dance camp runs Monday to Friday and participants should attend every day to learn the routine ready for the Friday performance.
