On Thursday 2 July 2026, RJC Dance was proud to see our Youth Provision group, Shahck Out Boyz, perform at the Child Friendly Leeds Awards 2026 at the iconic City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds city centre.
The group had the honour of opening one of Leeds’ most inspiring celebrations of children and young people by performing their high-energy piece, Soca Zombies. From the very first beat, Shahck Out Boyz brought the colour, rhythm and excitement of Caribbean carnival culture to the stage, creating an unforgettable start to the evening.
Celebrating Young People Across Leeds
The Child Friendly Leeds Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of children, young people, schools, community organisations and professionals who help make Leeds a great place for children and young people to grow up. The annual awards celebrate creativity, resilience, leadership and positive contributions from across the city, highlighting the incredible talent within our communities.
Being invited to perform at such a prestigious event was a fantastic opportunity for our young dancers to represent RJC Dance and showcase the power of youth dance in Leeds.
Showcasing the Best of Leeds Youth Dance
Shahck Out Boyz performed Soca Zombies with confidence, precision and infectious energy, demonstrating the commitment, teamwork and creativity that define our Youth Provision programme. Their performance reflected the vibrant spirit of Soca while celebrating Caribbean culture through movement and performance.
As one of the leading organisations for Leeds Youth Dance, RJC Dance is committed to providing inclusive opportunities where young people can express themselves, develop new skills and perform in professional settings.
