Leeds Beckett University Student Placement at RJC Dance
30th April 2024
In March 2024, Leeds Beckett University student and current RJC Dance Youth Provision member Luke Tyson completed his teaching placement with RJC Dance. Luke is currently in his second year studying Contemporary Dance at Leeds Beckett University and has been a member of the RJC Dance Youth Provision since he was 13.
Luke spent several weeks supporting our lead tutor and choreographer Nillanthie Morton for the Shahck Out Juniors Saturday and Shahck Out Boyz Noize sessions
Luke reflected on his teaching placement with RJC Dance:
“I knew somewhat about teaching, but it was interesting learning new methods, working with different personalities and facing different challenges.
I learnt that a good teacher is able to come up with methods of teaching that are fun but effective in choreography, whilst also making sure that everyone is safe and being responsible.
It’s been really good and interesting, teaching different ages and styles. I enjoyed attending FRESH (Yorkshires Regional Dance Platform) and other workshops.”
