RJC Dance participated and proudly celebrated 50 years of Leeds West Indian Carnival on Bank holiday Monday 28th August 2017. Our ‘Light–It–Up’ troupe was the epitome of the true sense of carnival; from the vibrant and inspirational young people of RJC Dance Youth Provision, Adult Community Class and alumni to the energetic and engaging choreography by Nillanthie Morton. The effect was mesmerising and complemented the body darting rhythms of music provided by DJ Soca Haze, crowned by the amazing designs & costumes produced by Rhian Kempadoo Millar, Tracy Pinder, Shamce Hussan.
The support provided by RJC Dance staff, our parents, carers, guardians and volunteers helped to make the ‘Light It Up’ troupe a Soca stomping success!
For over 17 years, RJC Dance have been successful in designing and presenting winning carnival costumes and winning troupes for Leeds West Indian Carnival and we are proud to have ‘Lit Up’ the road on this unforgettable and vibrant 50th anniversary.
