Our very own RJC Dance Director Kathy Williams MBE, OLY was nominated in a special category at the annual Sky Arts Awards, the Sky Arts Hero Award honors the unsung, behind-the-scenes individuals, mentors, and community workers who support British and Irish arts and culture.
Kathy was nominated by several people for the award and attended the awards ceremony on Tuesday 13 October in London with Stef Freckleton. She didn’t take away the trophy this time, but we’re pleased that her work was recognised by the panel who said: “Whilst another nominee has been selected as this year’s winner, we wanted to let you know that Kathy’s fantastic work was recognised by the panel. It’s clear Kathy has had an incredible impact on others.”
That she does, and we’re so grateful to benefit from her talent and commitment every day – she’s truly inspiring. She said: “To be nominated for a Sky Arts Award by the public is certainly humbling and I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me.”
We extend a huge congratulations to this year’s winner, Liz Light, Founder and General Manager at Birmingham’s Stage2 Youth Theatre. Creating opportunities for young people is a value both organisations share and Liz has been opening doors (literally and figuratively) for 38 years.
