RJC Dance is delighted to celebrate Kathy Williams MBE and Nillanthie Morton, who were both honoured at the Black Achievers Wings Awards 2026. Their awards recognise the difference they have made through dance, creativity and their commitment to the community.
The celebration brought together people whose work creates opportunities and inspires others. It was a proud occasion for RJC Dance, with members of our alumni community also among the nominees.
Nillanthie received the Project Award, recognising individuals whose dedication to projects has created opportunities, achieved positive outcomes and made a lasting difference.
Since 2012, Nillanthie has continued to give back to RJC Dance through his teaching and choreography. Specialising in Soca, Caribbean and Urban dance styles, he mentors young people and champions boys’ participation in dance, helping them build confidence, self-esteem and a stronger sense of wellbeing.

Reflecting on his award, Nillanthie said:
“It makes me really happy and proud to be acknowledged for this award. I will use this as reinforcement to continue to inspire, motivate and be a positive role model for the next generations.”
His journey shows the lasting impact of community dance provision. Having first discovered his passion as a young participant, he now helps the next generation find their own confidence, creativity and opportunities.
RJC Dance Director Kathy Williams MBE, OLY received the Performing Arts Award – Ginalda Tavares Award, recognising creativity, talent and contributions to the arts that have inspired others and enriched the wider community.
Nominated by the RJC Dance Administration Team, Kathy’s recognition celebrates the organisation’s work at the heart of the communities it serves.
Our work celebrates Black British culture and dance, bringing generations together and helping people develop their creativity, strengthen relationships and take pride in their cultural identity. Removing barriers to participation remains central to this work, so that more people can access meaningful creative experiences.

Kathy said:
“I am sincerely grateful to receive this recognition and the ‘Gina Tavares Award’ for RJC Dance’s contribution to the Performing Arts – Heritage, Community, Culture and Sustainability.”
We extend our warmest congratulations to all the winners and nominees, including the RJC Dance alumni whose achievements were also recognised through nominations. Seeing members of our community celebrated is a reminder of how far the impact of dance can reach.

Thank you to the Community Black Achievers Wings Awards Committee, the planning group, volunteers, performers and supporters who made the celebration possible.
