FAQs

Send us a message via our website with your child's information. We have a waiting list for all sessions and will be in touch once a space is available. For children 9 years and older, we would invite your child to attend a half term camp first before joining a weekly dance session.

We find that a taster session does not provide a full picture of the sessions. For Shahck Out Teenies & Kidz, we ask for a commitment of a term (11-12 weeks), which gives your child the opportunity to stick at it and decide if it is for them.
For young people 9 years and up, we run free dance camps in the half terms which allow participants to attend a valuable taster experience with no financial commitment, before joining a youth provision group.

We find this can be distracting for the participants. There is always the opportunity to see what your child has been working on at a sharing or a performance.

RJC stands for Reggae, Jazz, Contemporary and Carnival, which were our foundational dance styles when we were formed, however we do offer additional styles such as street and we like to mix it up. A great place to see our dance styles is by watching performances on our YouTube page and on our social media @rjcdance.

We ask that all fees are paid in advance of the first session. If you have any queries regarding your child’s fees, please contact RJC Dance Administrator Stef via email at stef@rjcdance.org.uk

We don’t provide any dance examinations however there may be an opportunity for your child to complete an Arts Award. We have previously offered Bronze and Silver levels. Visit www.artsaward.org.uk for more information.

Yes! ‘Adult Community Class’ takes place every Thursday, 7pm - 8pm, in person at the Mandela Centre. This is a drop in session at just £5 per class for anyone 18+, that can be booked online in advance or just turn up and pay on the door. We also have a free Active Communities online session every Friday 2pm - 3pm, which is a session for elders that can be chair based.

There are no sessions during half-term breaks, which are scheduled in line with the school holidays, though we do run free dance camps for young people during these times.

Members of our Youth Provision aged 9+ can sign up their interest to take part in Carnival. You can register your child's interest to join our Youth Provision.
