We’re thrilled to celebrate the fantastic achievement of 11 young people from RJC Dance Youth Provision group Shahck Out Saturday who have successfully completed their Bronze Arts Award! Over eight weeks in the summer term, these dedicated young dancers have immersed themselves in the world of dance, creativity and leadership, alongside and during their regular sessions, and we couldn’t be prouder of all they’ve achieved.
What is the Bronze Arts Award?
The Bronze Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification that celebrates young people’s creative development. It gives participants the opportunity to explore an art form, develop their skills, and share their creativity with others.
- Weekly Dance Sessions: Each week, the group came together to develop their dance technique and performance skills at RJC Dance.
- Artist Research: Participants chose an artist who inspired them and undertook independent research to learn about their work, influences and journey in the arts.
- Performance Insight: The group chose to watch Shahck Out Youth Dance’s performance at Space 2’s 20th Anniversary event ‘Ahead of the Wave’, gaining valuable insight into the power of storytelling through movement and the possibilities within youth dance.
- Teaching & Leadership: Each young dancer developed their own solo choreography and then stepped into the role of teacher, sharing their work and teaching it to their peers. This helped them build confidence, communication skills and leadership abilities.
A Brilliant Achievement
Completing a Bronze Arts Award is no small feat. It requires commitment, reflection and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. These 11 young people demonstrated creativity, curiosity and an incredible team spirit throughout the process.
To every young person involved: WELL DONE! You should feel incredibly proud of yourselves. You’ve not only developed as dancers but as artists, teachers and leaders.
