RJC Dance Alumni Interviews: Chanté Henry

Chanté Henry joined RJC Dance Youth Provision in 2002 aged 9 and danced with us for 10 years. Now 28 years old, we wanted to catch up with Chanté to learn more about where life has taken her since RJC Dance.

How would you describe your time at RJC Dance Youth Provision?

I learnt a lot of life skills and made most of my lifelong friends at RJC Dance.

Favourite memory: The Youth Exchange in Sweden 2010. It was nice to be able to get away from our parents! I also met lots of new people in Sweden whom I am still in contact with now.

Greatest Achievement: Winning the Most Dedicated Award at RJC Dance Presentation evening as I felt that I was very dedicated.

Describe RJC Dance Youth Provision in 3 words?

Where are you now?

I am a Project Manager for business relocation firm. I help plan client relocation and manage applications, to efficiently move clients from one place to another. I work all over the country and I am currently working from Northampton.

What words of inspiration can you provide for the young people who want to join a participatory dance organisation and or go into the Arts and Culture Industry?

You should do it to try new things and to know what you do and don’t like. Definitely go into the arts and experience it.
